Terminal Understeer is an F1 blog by an F1 geek for F1 geeks. The author first got into F1 as a boy, following Nigel Mansell’s staggeringly successful second period at Williams beginning in 1991, becoming a confirmed geek during the mid-nineties by following the fortunes of Jean Alesi and purchasing a subsctiption to Autosport magazine.
He was a dedicated tifoso up until 1997/8 when he felt that some of the passion & excitement of Ferrari was lost without Scarlet cars, explody V12 engines and the Todt/Brawn/Schumacher era’s ruthless efficiency seemingly taking away some of what made the team different. Nowadays, the author is much more of a general fan of the sport, with a soft spot for the dogged determination and overall “Britishness” of Williams.
While an armchair expert on F1 from the nineties on, he has also developed a strong interest in late-sixties F1, mainly from the introduction of the 3.0 litre era in 1966.
